Halloween tramway, 23–24 October
On 23–24 October, Malmköping’s heritage tramway becomes Halloweenspårväg. Ride through the woods and stop at Trumslagarskogen on the return journey, where a haunted house awaits in the tram shed. The bus museum has also taken a spooky turn.
Opening hours are 19:00–22:00 on Friday 23 October and 15:00–21:00 on Saturday 24 October. For families with easily frightened children, the organiser recommends Saturday departures between 15:36 and 17:42. Later services offer more scares.
Tickets cost SEK 190 for adults and SEK 90 for children aged 6–15. Tram seats are limited and advance tickets are recommended. The tramway café is open during the evening, with hot dogs and hamburgers also available on site.
Lilla Halloween, 31 October
On Halloween itself, Saturday 31 October, Lilla Halloween opens from 14:00 to 18:00. Families can discover pumpkins, witches and haunted houses at their own pace. No ghosts jump out of the darkness, making this a gentler choice for children who enjoy just a little spookiness.
Trams run a shuttle service between Malmköping and Trumslagarskogen. Track work means this is the only section in use. Seat reservations are not required for Lilla Halloween, although the organiser recommends buying tickets in advance. Find the ticket link in the sources below.
Plan your Halloween outing
Halloween always falls on 31 October, but local celebrations start earlier. The two tramway weekends offer different experiences: choose 23–24 October for more scares or 31 October for a gentler family visit.
The heritage tramway is at Järnvägsgatan 4, Malmköping. Dress for spending time both outdoors and indoors. Our guide to visiting the tramway with children covers ordinary visits, the museums and accessibility.
